Every real estate agent knows the hustle never stops—even during the holidays. While the holiday season is known to be slow for real estate, keeping momentum during the slower seasons means bigger rewards for you in the new year.
While you probably won’t snag as many sales in the next month, don’t underestimate what you can accomplish even during a slower time. By using these real estate holiday marketing ideas and free holiday social media templates, you’ll have buyers and sellers remember your name.
1. Host a Ho-Ho-Holiday open house
Why go with a typical open house when there are so many opportunities around the holidays to really go all out? Set up a decorated tree and lights to make the whole place feel like everyone is home for the holidays.
Want to take it up a notch? Make sure the smell of freshly-baked cookies or other holiday scents is in the air. Scented candles will do the trick, but you can always create an authentic experience and make homemade cookies for guests.
(The cheesy event name is not required but encouraged.)
2. Organize a toy drive or support an existing one
Getting involved in charitable work is admirable and shows you’re an active community member. Organizing or supporting a toy drive around the holidays to benefit local organizations can be the right opportunity to reconnect with former clients and link with new leads.
Ask local businesses if they will let you place a toy donation bin in their stores. Or organize a day where people can swing by and drop off donations.
Remember to promote your drive through social media campaigns. Since some charities ask for specific donations for their needs, be sure to mention it when promoting.
To top it off, consider generating leads by asking people to complete a quick survey.
3. Send some holiday cards
Want a quick and easy way to send some holiday cheer? Send some holiday mail!
Handwritten or postcards will do. Include a quick note and well-wishings for the new year and beyond. Remind them that you are here for any of their real estate needs.
Regular holiday cards you buy at the store work, but imagine if you sent a card with one of your stunning listings on the front. Consider including high-quality photos of your listings on the front of the card to draw attention to the listings you offer.
4. Write a seasonal blog post or newsletter
Why not drive traffic to your site with a seasonal post to boost your holiday marketing strategy?
Want to help your fellow real estate agents? Post a blog about holiday real estate marketing ideas or ways to stage a home during the holiday season.
You can also send a newsletter with updates about how your business is going and what services you offer. Promote new services or upcoming events they can look forward to in the new year.
5. Host a holiday social media contest
Boost engagement on your social media channels by hosting a contest anyone can enter! Encourage extra entries by asking followers to share and comment on the post. You can also hold creative contests, such as holiday decorating contests, and have participants tag you in their posts.
Offer prizes such as gift cards or a themed gift basket filled with sweet and savory goodies for the winner(s). But ensure the prizes reflect what your community and clients love the most.
You can even offer several prizes as choices. For example, you can have a “Wine Lover’s Basket” with travel sizes of wine and a gift card to a local winery. Create and curate a prize that you know the community will love.
And to catch your followers’ eyes, consider using one of our holiday social media templates as your photo!
6. Decorate your listings
Spark interest in your listings, especially unoccupied ones, by decorating them with gorgeous lights and holiday flair. Hang up elegant lights so your listings will get attention even at night. Take pictures of the house and include them in your listing during the holiday season.
Who knows? If you go all out with the lights and decorations, you could get a lot of attention through social media through fun and festive posts that include the pictures.
7. Give a percentage of your commission to charity
Whether you support a local cause or a national organization, your clients will feel good knowing your dedication to making the world a little bit better. Plus, charitable contributions mean tax write-offs for the year.
Don’t forget to mention it on your social media and newsletters to clients.
