Real estate agent Jennifer Myers was in the same boat, but through a little trial-and-error, she\u2019s perfected a three-step system that allowed her to sell 40 homes last year.<\/p>\n<p>For the first four years of her career, Myers only sold two homes. No matter what she did, she couldn\u2019t seem to land more clients and was starting to think that real estate just wasn\u2019t for her.<\/p>\n<p>A few years back, however, something clicked \u2014 she realized that she wasn\u2019t seeking out the right clients, and she was trying to drum up business in all the wrong ways.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, Myers perfected her system for getting real estate clients. Thanks to this system, she\u2019s managed to completely turn her business around. If you\u2019re not able to stand out from the crowd, potential clients will have no reason to work with you over other agents in your market.<\/p>\n<p>One of the best ways to set yourself apart from other agents is to find a\u00a0real estate niche\u00a0\u2014 something you know well and are passionate about.<\/p>\n<p>For Myers, the right niche was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inman.com\/2018\/04\/30\/6-tips-for-easing-first-time-homebuyer-stress\/\">first-time homebuyers<\/a>. As someone who had a lot of problems buying her first home, she wanted to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inman.com\/2017\/09\/20\/5-ways-to-make-a-buyers-first-home-purchase-less-stressful\/\">help other first-time homebuyers avoid the frustration<\/a>\u00a0she experienced firsthand.<\/p>\n<p>She became an expert and was able to give her clients a level of service that no other agent in her market could provide. Her business quickly started to grow through referrals alone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>Step 2: Answer two critical questions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve found your niche, you need to answer the following critical questions:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why should clients choose you over other agents?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Think long and hard about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inman.com\/2015\/03\/31\/4-ways-to-create-and-disperse-your-unique-value-proposition\/\">why potential clients should choose you over someone else<\/a>. Is it your market expertise? Perhaps you deliver five-star customer service that competing agents can\u2019t match. Whatever it is, it needs to be compelling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why should your target clients buy or sell?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You also need to know why your target clients should buy or sell real estate.
